Overview

One of the busiest teaching institutions affiliated with the Yale University School of Medicine, Bridgeport Hospital is a 450-bed tertiary-care facility serving Connecticut's largest city with a population of over 150,000. Last year, there were more than 20,000 admissions, 40,000 emergency-room visits, and 115,000 outpatient visits. All medical specialties are represented along with Neonatology and Cardiovascular-Thoracic Surgery. The hospital has 9 ICUs and the only dedicated Burn Center in New England apart from the one in Boston. At present, there are fully-accredited residency training programs in General Surgery, Medicine, Medicine/Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, Radiology and Emergency Medicine.
