The Radiology Department is equipped with two (2) 16-slice CT scanners, a 1.5 Tesla MR scanner, mobile PET/CT and five (5) diagnostic rooms with digital and computerized radiographic capabilities, one room also being located in the Emergency Department.  The department is also equipped with fluoroscopic rooms with closed circuit television and cine capabilities, an all-digital modern angiographic suite and a suite for uroradiologic procedures.  Ultrasound and Nuclear Medicine units offer high-tech equipment for gray-scale ultrasonography and isotopic studies, including three gamma cameras, all digital with SPECT capabilities and computer software dedicated to computerized flow and quantitative radioisotopic procedures.   The department is also equipped with a digital mammography and digital stereotactic breast biopsy systems.

A state of the art Radiology information system maintains all orders, results and statistics for the entire department, and this information system is interfaced with the entire Yale New Haven Health System information system for improved patient care.  Filmless images from the PACS system can be viewed not only in the Radiology Department, but in all other related clinical and education areas throughout the hospital.
