CRITERIA FOR VISA SPONSORSHIP FOR
BRIDGPORT HOPSITAL RESIDENCY/FELLOWSHIP PROGRAMS
We accept both American and International medical graduates and sponsor both J1 and H1-B visas. In order to successfully begin a residency here, there are mandatory requirements as well as an inflexible time line. These are intended to provide guidance so that a matched resident can begin training on a designated date, usually in late June.
Requirements:
- USMLE Steps I, II and III must be taken and cleared before you enter the Match.
- After matching with our program, it is strongly recommended that you contact an
attorney who will assist you in organizing and executing your visa application. Bridgeport Hospital will be happy to recommend attorneys with whom we have worked successfully. Bridgeport Hospital will cover reasonable legal fees for those services. Failure to use an attorney may delay your application.
- You may apply for premium processing to expedite your application. You are responsible for this expense.
Time Line:
- You must be physically present in the USA with your J1 or HIB visa by June 1st.
- You must participate in the Hospital and Departmental orientation processes before you begin training. This is mandatory for regulatory compliance.
THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS
